Imagine waking up on your birthday or Christmas morning, only to find one of these on your street? Picture it inside a cardboard box in life size form. Image by Taina Sohlman (via Shutterstock).

If YouTube is your second most watched channel after ITV or Sky Sports, there’s every chance you would have noticed a number of unboxing videos. They are ten-a-penny with people unboxing their recent purchases. Some of which in thrall to prospective customers or enthusiasts. Others for historical reasons; for example, the unboxing of a ZX81 microcomputer. There is one channel, Ryan’s Toys, where the opening of a cardboard box is told through a child’s eyes.

On YouTube, you may see some people unboxing Dinky toys (or model versions of Stockport Corporation Transport buses). Imagine if you wanted to do the same with your favourite truck. Three-year-old Joel, a truck enthusiast had this opportunity in May this year, with a little help from Volvo. To launch their latest version of the VNL truck, Volvo Trucks North America decided to encase it in a cardboard box. One that is 80 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 18 feet tall.

As a consequence, three-year-old Joel is a record breaker. He now holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Unboxing of a Cardboard Box. His World Record attempt was adjudicated by Michael Empric. To make this feat possible, the box was reinforced to allow for the weight of the truck, some 72 feet long. In other words, the length of two and half double decker buses on the 383/384 Romiley Circular routes.

The video clip was recently posted on the Volvo Trucks USA YouTube channel. At this time of writing, it has been seen by nearly 450,000 viewers. Two days after the video clip was posted.

Before we go, we shall leave you with the video clip that has taken part of the YouTube world by storm. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
