Nail varnish order posted in cardboard packaging big enough for a ghettoblaster

Over a year ago on this blog, we looked at how Amazon.com have decided to change the way it packs your purchases. There had been complaints about oversized boxes for minor purchases. Till the 01 August 2016, their oversized cardboard packaging on certain items could have been a music hall joke.

Till this week, we thought the cardboard packaging faux pas was over. Not so for Michelle Hepton from Rhyl, Denbighshire. A single bottle of nail varnish was packed in a cardboard box better suited for a ghettoblaster. This picture seen below gives you an idea of how big her cardboard box was.

As quoted on Amazon’s website and seen on the websites of Trinity Mirror’s newspapers (namely the Daily Post and the Daily Mirror):

“We continue to pursue multi-year waste reduction initiatives – e-commerce ready packaging and Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging – to promote easy-to-open, 100% recyclable packaging and to ship products in their own packages without additional shipping boxes.”

If That’s Life continued beyond 1994, Esther Rantzen and Co. would have had a field day. It also goes to show that even Amazon isn’t immune from the odd faux pas.

“OMG when you order a bottle of nail polish off Amazon and this is the big ass box it gets delivered in – feeling amused.”

She has also wondered what cardboard packaging her next Amazon order will come in. This time, a set of pillows. She has also wondered what cardboard packaging her next Amazon order will come in. This time, a set of pillows. The box that her nail varnish came in would easily fit a standard duck feather pillow.
