Obilab’s next project will see the arrival of cardboard synth drums – and a fun size cardboard drum kit
How we wish these were cardboard drums.
If you remember our previous article on the cardboard drum kit, Obilab are about to go one better. Their next move will be the world’s first set of cardboard synth drums. In the development stages, its aim is to turn their acoustic cardboard kit into an electronic one, thanks to The Electronic Module.
The cardboard synth drums will have six electronic pads including the kick pedal. Plus USB and MIDI ports.
Introducing the DrumKID
In addition to, though not compatible with The Electronic Module, is another cardboard drum kit in the development stages. Known as DrumKID, this is the fun size version aimed at young children no taller than 130cm. This will be twenty centimetres lower than the adult version of Obilab’s cardboard drum kit.
We at Romiley Board Mill cannot wait to see The Electronic Module up and running. If anyone’s up for a version of Blue Monday with cardboard synth drums, count us in.
